GSA Vehicle to Grid Announcement

Friday, July 20, 2012

The Department of Defense (DOD) anticipates that it will be seeking sources capable of supplying goods and services for a Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) program for various DOD installations throughout the United States. This program builds on a comprehensive series of analyses and activities conducted by DOD and partnering agencies, including the General Services Administration (GSA). Since November 2010, DOD and its partners have released multiple requests for information (RFI's), hosted multiple industry and government events, completed a cost-benefit analysis for implementing V2G systems at 16 DOD installations, developed a detailed lifecycle cost and residual value model for plug-in electric vehicles (PEV's), and initiated a project to establish the first federal facility to replace its entire general purpose fleet with PEV's. This work is in addition to other ongoing projects with DOD to establish V2G systems in support of micro-grids and other military applications.
