Ener1 supporting Volvo in bringing C30 electric to market

has joined Volvo in Washington, DC to
participate in a seminar on electric vehicle
safety.

Ener1, who will be manufacturing the lithium ion batteries to go in the electric Volvo C30, has started phase II of their battery production. Both Ener1 and Volvo are focused on making the C30 a very safe vehicle and are incorporating special design features into the batteries and the cars themselves to make provide the best collision protection. Ener1 has designed a split battery for Volvo’s C30 Electric which is already being used in test fleets on the roads in the United States, Asia, and Europe.
This week, Ener1 has kicked off the second phase of production at their Indianapolis battery plant. Ener1 CEO Charles Gassenheimer and Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby are participating in the “Innovation Towards Zero” seminar that is designed to address the transition to zero automotive CO2 emissions and zero in-car fatalities. This partnership between Ener1 and Volvo aims to provide efficiency and safety to electric drive consumers.
