L-3 Communications - Combat Propulsion Systems
Combat Propulsion Systems develops, produces, integrates and supports propulsion and mobility systems that include engines, transmissions, turret drives and suspensions for military combat platforms worldwide. Products include the AVDS 1790 series air-cooled diesel engine with horsepower ranges of 750, 950, 1050, 1200 and 1500 as well as the HMPT continuously variable transmission in horsepower ranges of 500, 600 and 800. Combat Propulsion Systems turret drives are used on the Bradley fighting vehicle, Avenger air defense system and the Stryker Mobile Gun System, and its hydropneumatic suspensions are used on the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles and M60 variants. The company also manufactures various key tank components for the Abrams MBT, Stryker and other combat vehicles. Combat Propulsion Systems is developing new propulsion technology for UAVs/UGVs and its other technologies are well positioned to compete in the advanced combat vehicle arena, including Future Combat Systems.
