Dow Kokam sponsors and provides lithium-ion cells for the MotoCzysz racing team
Dow Kokam, a leading large-format battery systems producer, announced today that it is sponsoring the MotoCzysz racing team for the third year in a row, by providing lithium-ion cells for its high-performance, record-setting E1pc all-electric motorcycle line. The MotoCzysz team unveiled the redesigned 012 E1pc last weekend, just prior to the SES TT Zero Clean Emissions Motorcycle Challenge at the Isle of Man, the world’s largest and most demanding electric motorcycle races. The race is on Wednesday, June 6.
Dow Kokam has powered the MotoCzysz team
through the last two races at Isle of Man,
leading to two first place finishes. The team
expects to set new lap speed records in
2012.
“Dow Kokam’s advanced lithium-ion
battery cells have unmatched reliability,
flexibility and performance. We’ve taken
advantage of their wide range of cell formats
to create a unique system that delivers the
energy and dependability we need on the
track,” said Michael Czysz, MotoCzysz CEO
& Founder. “Dow Kokam cells are part of
the core of our E1pc platform, when we designed
the 012 E1pc, we were able to fit a larger pack
while optimizing balance, aerodynamics, and we
were able to decrease weight. With Dow
Kokam’s superior technology powering our
motorcycles, we expect to shatter records on
the track.”
The 2012 E1pc has been redesigned to
emphasize overall vehicle and system
efficiency, and is debuting at the Isle of Man
race. In the 2011 race, MotoCzysz took both
first and second place with its 2011 and 2010
model E1pc motorcycles, respectively, and came
close to breaking the 100 mile-per-hour average
lap speed for the 37.75 mile course. The race
organizers are providing a £10,000 award for
the first team to achieve 100+ mph lap time at
the race.
Since partnering with Dow Kokam in 2010,
the team has won multiple races and broken
speed records in both international and U.S.
races using Dow Kokam’s advanced battery
technology.
”Our cells are designed to provide
advantages in power, lifetime, safety and
energy, which translates into excellent
performance characteristics for a wide range of
applications in the transportation, defense,
industrial and stationary storage markets,”
said Jeff Kostos, vice president of Dow Kokam.
“MotoCzysz runs at the leading edge of
performance, demanding the best out of each
system. We are proud to help propel the
MotoCzysz team across the finish line.”
