The Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) released the following statement from President Genevieve Cullen on the results of the 2024 elections:
“The Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) congratulates the winners of this week’s elections, including President-elect Trump and the incoming Members of the House and Senate. We look forward to continuing our work with both sides of the aisle to help the nation build U.S. leadership and secure the economic and environmental opportunities presented by electric drive technologies.
“The EV industry is growing, with over 130 EV models currently available and close to 6 million vehicles sold. 362 companies have announced a combined $320 billion in private investment targeted at the U.S. EV market. Last year, the electrified vehicle segment—which includes hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery electric vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles—supported 373,605 jobs in America. Critical areas within the EV ecosystem, such as energy storage and grid technologies, contributed to another 146,811 jobs, and electricity transmission and distribution accounted for more than 703,000 jobs.
“Electrification is the future of transportation, and our nation cannot cede the opportunity to lead in this critical market. EDTA is ready to work with the incoming Administration and Congress to maintain our momentum and ensure that the U.S. remains at the forefront in the global race in e-mobility.”
