WASHINGTON – Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) President Genevieve Cullen today released the following statement in response to proposed legislation from the House Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees:

"The House Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees' plans to abandon U.S. leadership in energy innovation by gutting federal investment in electrification are catastrophically short-sighted. These incentives and programs are expanding consumers’ choices while increasing energy security, building a resilient electricity grid, expanding manufacturing, and updating critical transportation infrastructure.  Advanced technology cars, trucks, ports, and the supply chains that support them are essential to building American energy dominance. The proposed cuts and rescissions hand our competitors, like China, an enormous market advantage while threatening U.S. manufacturing and putting thousands of current and future jobs at risk.

“Federal investment is catalyzing billions in private investment across the electrification value chain, strengthening U.S. influence in the global market, enabling vital infrastructure development, and expanding consumer choice. We urge Congress not to hurt consumers or sideline the American innovators and investors who are bolstering our energy security and building the next generation of transportation.”
